Arris Rail Fencing
The Professional’s Choice for Continuous Boundary Fencing
Arris Rail fencing (also known as Closeboard) is a site-assembled timber fence renowned for its strength and versatility. Unlike pre-made panels, this system uses triangular "Arris" rails that sit securely into post notches to support continuous runs of featheredge boarding. This construction method allows for a seamless finish that can easily adapt to sloping ground or uneven boundaries.

Building Your Fence
Constructing an Arris Rail fence requires selecting the right combination of posts, rails, and fixings. Follow this guide to ensure you have the correct components for your build.
1.Choose Your Posts
The type of post you select determines how the rails are attached.
-
Concrete Morticed Posts (Recommended): These posts come pre-cast with slots (mortices). The triangular Arris rails simply slot directly into the post. No rail brackets are required.
-
Wooden Posts: A traditional option. As these do not have pre-cast slots, you must install 2 metal brackets per rail to secure them to the post.
2.Choose Your Rails
You will need 2 to 3 Arris Rails per bay, depending on the desired height of your fence.
-
Note: Using 3 rails is recommended for taller fences (6ft+) to prevent board bowing.
3. Choose Your Gravel Board & Fixings
We highly recommend installing a 6-inch (150mm) Gravel Board at the base of your fence. This lifts the timber featheredge boards off the damp ground, significantly extending the life of the fence.
Important: You must select the correct cleat (bracket) for your chosen gravel board material:
-
Option A: Concrete Gravel Board
-
Requires: Galvanised 2-Pin Cleat.
-
Why: The pins slot into the concrete post holes to hold the heavy board securely.
-
-
Option B: Wooden Gravel Board
-
Requires: Panel or Board Clip.
-
Why: These screw into the wooden block or post to hold the timber board in place.

Plain Faced Concrete Base Panels
The Professional’s Choice for Continuous Boundary Fencing
Our plain-faced concrete panels are the ultimate durable solution for modern fencing. Designed to slide seamlessly into concrete slotted posts, these panels are "wet cast" to ensure a smooth, high-quality finish on one side.
Whether you need to protect a timber panel or build a solid concrete wall, these reinforced boards provide structural integrity that lasts for decades.

Dual Functionality: How to Use Them
This versatile product serves two main purposes depending on your project requirements:
1. As a Gravel Board (Base Panel) The most common application is installing a single 1ft panel at the bottom of the fence.
-
The Benefit: It acts as a barrier between the ground and your wooden fence panel. By preventing direct contact with damp soil, it stops your timber panels from absorbing moisture and decaying, significantly extending their lifespan.
2. As a Solid Security Fence (Stacked) For a heavy-duty boundary, these panels can be "stacked" on top of one another within the slotted posts.
-
The Benefit: By slotting multiple panels on top of each other (e.g., stacking six 1ft panels to create a 6ft wall), you form a solid, impenetrable concrete fence. This offers maximum privacy and "extra security" compared to timber.
